ASU SOCCER WINS ON SENIOR DAY

ASU SOCCER WINS ON SENIOR DAY

MONTGOMERY, Ala. - The Alabama State University Soccer team ended the regular season successful.  Senior day for The Lady Hornets resulted in a 2-0 shutout over Alcorn State from Hornet Stadium.  It's been a long hard road for seniors Ashley Clark, Danielle Miller, Chelsea Nash and Monique Sylvester; however they'll go out as record breakers.  This year's team set the school record for wins in a season and their highest finish in the conference which is third in the Eastern Division.

“It's always good to send your seniors out on a good note”.  Head coach Jodie Smith said.  “We are light years away from the way we played at the start of the season and hopefully we can carry that on into the SWAC Tournament this week”

ASU got two goals from Lena Lamas.  The first was an open netted goal that came at the 7:16 mark of the first period.  Lamas scored her next goal at the 46:29 mark of the second period with an assist from Heather Sherman.  The Lady Hornets dominated with 21 shot attempts holding Alcorn to only four.  Sixteen of those attempts were on goal attempts.

Miller led ASU in attempts with eight, Lamas totaled 6, and Alexandria Ayers finished with three shot.  Next up for ASU is the SWAC tournament in Arkansas Pine-Bluff which is set to start Thursday
