Baseball Falls at Georgia State

PANTHERSVILLE, Ga.
–The Alabama State University baseball team struggled offensively in a disappointing 23-1 loss at Georgia State Wednesday evening at GSU's Field.

ASU drops to 10-17 overall following the loss while Georgia State improved to 24-17-1.

The Panthers outhit the Hornets 18-4 and also produced several multi-run innings en route to the victory.

Reginald Mitchell led the way for ASU going 2-for-2 at the plate. Jourdan Mott and Kejuan Riley collected the team's other two hits in the contest.

Georgia State grabbed the early lead with six runs in the first inning and then added three more in the second for a 9-0 advantage. The Panthers got another run in the fourth to earn a double-digit lead.

The Hornets responded with their lone run of the game in the fifth before GSU exploded for six runs in the fifth and another seven runs in the sixth to reach the final margin.

Alabama State next hosts Alcorn State in the final home games of the season for ASU. The Hornets and Braves battle Saturday in a doubleheader at 1 p.m. then close the weekend series Sunday at 1 p.m.
