Montgomery, Ala.-The Alabama State University Soccer Team picked up their first win of the season last night. The final was 1-nill over Faulkner University. The win improves ASU to 1-2 on the season.
Goalkeeper,
Maressa Gordon had a career night with 10 saves. The Greenville, Miss native helped pace the The Lady Hornets defensively leaving The Lady Eagles scoreless.
“Maressa came up with some really big saves tonight”. Head coach
Jodie Smith said. “I was really impressed with her play and it gives us confidence going forward”.
The only score of the night came from Lady Hornet,
Monique Sylvester. Faulkner's goalie made an attempt to clear a shot, but Sylvester was able to slide by the defender with an opened net goal.
The Lady Hornets return for a home match with Spring Hill College next Tuesday. Play begins at 7 p.m. from Hornet Stadium.
