LORMAN, Miss. - The Alabama State soccer team falls to Alcorn in double overtime 1-0 in its conference opener.
The Lady Hornets made a defensive mistake in front of the goal which led to the only score of the game. This Lady Braves (3-4, 1-0 SWAC) goal came in the 104 minute of the contest.
“Defensive mistakes hurt us in today's game and have been hurting us all year,” said Coach
Jodie Smith. “We lost Freshman Midfielder
Iita Pienimaki to an injury 15 minutes into the contest and it affected the way we played the rest of the match.”
ASU (1-10, 0-1 SWAC) will continue their Mississippi road swing as they head to Mississippi Valley State for a Sunday afternoon match in Itta Bena. “We have to regroup for Mississippi Valley State on Sunday and juggle the line-up around since we now have Pienimaki out,” said Coach Smith.
Sunday's game against Valley is slated to start at 1 p. m.
