Alabama State Soccer falls to MVSU

Alabama State University soccer team battled hard throughout the contest, but Josee Primeau's fourth and 44th -minute strikes proved to be the difference as the Lady Hornets fell 2-0 to Mississippi Valley State University Sunday afternoon in Itta Bena.

“The ladies played pretty well today,” said Coach Jodie Smith. “We just have to adapt better to our line-up changes and get better defensively moving forward in the division.”

The Devilettes improved to 2-5-1 overall and 2-0 in the SWAC.

ASU's freshman goalkeeper Kylee Hathaway had six saves on the afternoon.

The loss dropped ASU to 1-10 overall and 0-2 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference heading into next weekend's home conference-opening weekend against Southern University and Jackson State University. The Hornets welcomes the Jaguars to campus at 7 p.m. Friday before wrapping the weekend at 1 p.m. Sunday against the Tigers.
