Box Score MONTGOMERY—Alabama State University's men's basketball team will pack up and head to Nacogdoches, Texas, where they will participate in the Lumberjack E-Tech Classic hosted by Stephen F. Austin State University. The Classic will be played on Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 10-11.
On Saturday the Hornets will open play against the host team Stephen F. Austin at 4:15 p.m. at the William R. Johnson Coliseum. On Sunday ASU will face Texas Wesleyan at 2 p.m.
The Hornets took a few days off after the Florida International trip to prepare for and take final exams.
Senior
Kenderek Washington is coming off a career-high 19 points in ASU's win at Florida International. The Mississippi native has reached double digits in five of the six games this season and leads ASU in scoring at 13.8 points per game. He is also averaging a team-high five rebounds per game.
Tramaine Butler is looking to get back on track after two sub-par games for him. He has scored 12 points over the past two games. He continues to be second on the team in scoring at 10.8 points per game.
Ivory White and Jeffery Middlebrooks have been solid in their roles. White is averaging 9.7 points and 4.3 rebounds per game, while Middlebrooks not only leads ASU, but leads the Southwestern Athletic Conference in assists at 4.3 per game.
S.F. Austin enters their own tournament with a 3-3 record, recording wins over Centenary (84-43), Texas El-Paso (53-35) and Wiley College (72-66). Their losses have come to San Diego (66-61), Texas Tech (66-54) and Texas A&M (55-42).
Antonio Bostic leads the team in scoring at 13.3 points per game and Jereal Scott is just behind him at 12.7 points per outing. Taylor Smith is the team's leading rebounder averaging five per game.
Texas Wesleyan will enter the tournament with a 7-1 record and are ranked 7
th in the nation in the latest NAIA poll. They are a high-scoring team averaging 86 points per game. ASU will be their first game against a team outside of the NAIA.
Ronnie Moss leads four players in double digit scoring, averaging 25.5 points per game. Right behind him is Eric Frederick at 24.3 points per game. Frederick averages a double-double as he leads the team grabbing 10.2 rebounds per game.
The other double digit scorers are Brian Talley at 14.9 points per game and Oscar Griffin at 10 points per game.
