Solid Pitching Pushes MVSU Past ASU
ITTA BENA, Miss. - The Alabama State softball team scored only one run before getting run ruled in five innings of play at Mississippi Valley State. The final from the MVSU softball complex was 9-1.
In the fourth inning, Meagan Dixon got a triple and a fielding error allowed her to score from third with Ayesha Famble at the plate. Dixon and Famble notched the Lady Hornets only hits of the evening.
MVSU (20-19, 13-2 SWAC) jumped out to an early 4-0 lead in the first inning as doubles by Diana Parada, Taylor Pleasant and Ashley Hobbs got the team into scoring positions. The Devilettes would score five more runs in the third inning.
Alabama State drops to 8-24 overall and 4-8 in the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The two teams will meet again tomorrow in a double-header that starts at 1 p.m.
