Softball Swept at Mississippi Valley State

SOFTBALL GETS SWEPT AT MISSISSIPPI VALLEY

ITA BENA, Miss. - The Alabama State softball team could not overcome firm pitching and warm bats Saturday against Mississippi Valley State as they were swept on the road at the MVSU Softball Complex.  The Devilettes completed the series sweep having won game one on Friday.

In game two, ASU was only able to get one hit falling 9-0 in five innings of play.  MVSU scored three runs in the first, third and fifth innings before the game was called.  Stephanie Hernandez was tabbed with the loss for the Lady Hornets.

ASU (8-28, 4-10) was able to manufacture more offense in game three of the series scoring four runs off of seven hits.    MVSU (22-19, 15-2) still outscored the Lady Hornets at the end for a final of 18-4.  Brehanna Rodgrigues and Breya Wright both had perfect games at the plate for ASU going 2-2 with one run scored each.  Ayesha Famble was 2-3.

Hernandez picked up the loss as well in the finale.  She is now 6-20 on the season.  ASU will play a double-header at Murray State Wednesday first pitch is set for 2 p.m.
