ASU Softball Splits Double-Header at Savannah State

ASU Softball Splits With Savannah State

Savannah, Ga. – The Alabama State team softball came up with huge innings in the first and fourth against Savannah State.  The final from the Paulson Complex in game one was 12-1.  The Lady Hornets dropped game two 11-10.

In the first game of a double-header, Meagan Dixon and Ayesha Famble both hit homeruns in the first inning as ASU scored five runs which would help lead the team to an eventual mercy rule.   One more run would come in the second inning by ASU before scoring six more in the fourth.  Dixon notched her second homer during that inning.  She finished 3-4 with five RBI, two runs scored and a pair of homeruns.

Brittnei Price was also 3-4 with three runs scored along with an RBI.  The lady Hornets scored 12 runs off of 14 hits.  Stephanie Hernandez earned the win for ASU.  She pitched all five innings allowing only one earned run.  Tiffany Davis gets the lost for Savannah State.

In game two, Alabama State continued to stay hot.  However, the lady Tigers also responded offensively defeating the lady Hornets 11-10.  Savannah State tallied 19 hits and scored five runs in the third.  Those five runs scored gave the lady Tigers its first lead of the entire day after trailing early 3-0 through the first three innings.

Famble completed game two with going 3-4 with two runs scored and two RBI.  Dixon homered again in game two.  She was 2-4 with 4 RBI and a run scored.  ASU is now (8-20) overall on the season.

The lady Hornets will travel to Memphis for a double header this Wednesday.  First pitch is set for 4 p.m.
