Montgomery, Ala. – The Alabama State softball team scored five runs in the fourth inning and dominated Alabama A&M 6-3 Friday from Chisholm Park.  The victory puts ASU one step closer to securing the fourth spot in the Eastern Division of the Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament.

In game one of the three game series, Brehanna Rodrigues led the way going 2-4 with 4 RBI and a run scored.  Breya Wright was the only other batter with multiple hits on the evening for ASU.  She was 2-3 at the plate with a run scored.

The Lady Hornets scored seven runs off of seven hits while committing one error.  Stephanie Hernandez was tagged with the win for ASU giving up 3 runs, 7 hits, and a pair of strikeouts.

ASU and AAMU will conclude the series tomorrow with a double-header that starts at 1 p.m.  The Lady Hornets must win at least one of the games in order to make it to post season play next month.
