Box Score The Alabama State University soccer team fell to Mississippi Valley State 1-0 at the ASU Soccer Complex Friday afternoon.
“Again it was a case where we played well enough to win but our back end gave up a goal in the start of the second half that cost us,” head coach
Jodie Smith said. Now we have our work cut out for us going into Sunday's contest and hoping to get a win going into the conference tournament.”
With such a slow start for both teams, Mississippi Valley State (6-8-2 overall/2-0-1 SWAC) came out aggressive in the second half scoring a goal at the 49
th minute in the contest.
The Lady Hornets (6-8-2/1-2) saw a much better second half out shooting the Devilettes 5-2. Sophomore goalkeeper
Kylee Hathaway had eight key saves in the contest.
“Kylee made a couple of great saves for us today, but we didn't help her in the back,” said Smith. “She's been great for us all season and hopefully she can continue to get better as we approach our regular season on Sunday and thereafter.”
Alabama State plays host to Alcorn State on Sunday, October 31 at 1 p.m. ASU soccer will say thank you to its 2012 senior class 10 minutes prior to the start of the contest.
