Box Score 2 Box Score AUBURN, Ala. – The Alabama State softball team drops two on day three at the Auburn Invitational, gifting wins Bowling Green State 0-6 and Appalachian State 17-8.
In game one the Lady Hornets couldn't get anything going offensively.
Breeya Wright recorded the only hit for ASU, singling on a bunt to the third baseman.
Bailey Patt suffered the loss for ASU. Patt gave up six runs on eight hits in six innings of work.
The Falcons (2-1) senior Rachel Proehl went 2-4, scoring two runs in the contest.
“I felt we started out a little slow today,” ASU head coach Telma Hall said. “I don't think we played to our beat and didn't come out of the check mode like we should. We mixed up the lineup today to see what we could do offensively, and it proved to show that we could get more hits in the second game. The ladies made a quick adjustment in the Appalachian State game as you can see. We now have to get the defense and the offense to click, so we can start producing wins.”
Box Score Game two, Alabama State faced Appalachian State. The Lady Hornets opened the game with a single from
Brehanna Rodrigues.
Meagan Dixon added a triple to right field to score Rodrigues from first base. Alabama State scored three unearned runs in the third making the game (7-4) with the Mountaineers on top.
Sosafina Toilolo doubled in the fourth for ASU scoring Rodrigues and Ducoing.
Kim Ross recorded a sacrifice fly to score Toilolo to make the score 10-7, Appalachian State.
Alabama State added one last run in the fifth scoring
Ayesha Famble on a pass ball.
Allie Cashion led the way for Appalachian State recording three hits, two RBIs, including four runs.
With the loss, Alabama State falls to 0-4 on the season, while the Mountaineers improve to 1-1.
