Box Score Box Score AUBURN, Ala. – The Alabama State softball team falls to Wright State 6-3 in the final day of the Auburn Invitational at Jane B. Moore Field.
“From the beginning of the tournament, I think we came out a little nervous, not understanding what to expect,” head coach Telma Hall said. “The good thing about it is we did show a lot of improvement throughout the tournament, but the sad part about it is we didn't capitalize. We didn't finish. This game is about executing, taking advantage of all situations, and finishing. It's kind of disappointing, in the last game, we come out with the lead and let it slip away from us. On the upside, I think that we have shown improvements, putting some hits on the board and scoring runs.”
The Lady Hornets drew first blood in the top half of the third, scoring
Brittnei Price and
Courtney Crossley on a two-out single to right field off the bat of
Yvette Ducoing. Sosofina Toilolo also scored in the inning on a throwing error by the catcher.
Wright State slowly clawed its way back in the game by scoring one run in the bottom half of the fourth and took the lead on a two-run homer off the bat of Kate Kine bringing the score (4-3) in the bottom of the fifth.
Bailey Patt suffered the loss allowing four runs, off six hits in four innings. Ducoing went 1-3, including two RBIs to lead the Lady Hornets.
