BIRMINGHAM, Ala. | Alabama State University's Tiffany Bruss was selected as the Southwestern Athletic Conference Softball Newcomer of the Week on Wednesday.

Bruss batted .600 with three doubles, three RBI, and three runs scored to help Alabama State sweep a three-game series from rival Alabama A&M. The Stockton, Calif., native went 2-for-4 with three RBI in the series finale.
