MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The first pitch of the 2012 Hornets Invitational is set for 4 p.m. Friday, at ASU Softball Complex as Alabama State takes on the University of Nebraska Omaha.   
 
The Lady Hornets host the University of Nebraska Omaha, Savannah State, and Tennessee State in the two-day tournament. All Alabama State home games will be online with live stats and at www.bamastatesports.com.
 
“We are excited and looking forward to playing at this beautiful new field here on campus,” ASU head coach Telma Hall said. “I just want the ladies to just go out there and have fun this weekend. I think if we could improve on our mistakes and be able to capitalize on the other team's mistakes, then we will be successful.”
 
Following Friday's opener, the Lady Hornets will play twice on Saturday first at noon against Tennessee State and at 4 p.m. against Savannah State.
 
The Opening Day Ceremony for the New ASU Softball Complex that was planned for tomorrow, Feb. 17 has been post-pone to April 20 when the Lady Hornets host Jackson State in their Southwestern Athletic Conference weekend series.
