MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State softball team will travel to Woodstock, Ga. to compete in the Kennesaw State Tournament February 24-26. ASU is set to face host team Kennesaw State on Friday, Feb. 24 at 9:30 a.m.
“We are going to compete against some quality teams this weekend, so I'm looking for us to take the momentum from this past weekend into this weekend's tournament,” head coach Telma Hall said.
The Lady Hornets (1-6) are coming off their first win of the season at home over the University of Nebraska Omaha 4-0. Sosefine Toilolo went 3-for-3 hitting a line drive two-run homer over the left field fence, including two singles to lead Alabama State in the victory.
Brehanna Rodrigues recorded a 2-for-2 outing, scorching two singles and adding two runs, while
Mercedes Frazier went 2-for-3 on the day adding two singles, one to right field and the other to center field.
Pitcher Jessica Cross leads Kennesaw State (6-1) with a .435 batting average and has an ERA of 2.57 in 16 1/3 innings pitched.
