ASU Softball to Participate in Georgia Tech Buzz Classic

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State softball team will travel to compete in the Georgia Tech Buzz Classic in Woodstock, Ga. March 2-4. The Lady Hornets will look to face Furman at 11 a.m. and Southeastern Louisiana at 1:30 p.m. on Friday.

On Saturday, ASU will compete against Winthrop at 10 a.m. and at noon, Kennesaw State. Alabama State will look to wrap-up its weekend with Western Carolina at 11 a.m. on Sunday.

“I'm happy that we came out with a “W” last weekend in the Kennesaw State Tournament and I hope that we can carry that same momentum into this weekend's classic,” head coach Telma Hall said. “I'm glad that our bats are heating up and now we are looking for some consistency out of each player on offense and defense.”

The Lady Hornets (2-10) are coming off a 6-4 win over Eastern Kentucky on last Sunday. ASU rallied to pick up the win from four down in the top of the fourth inning. Bailey Patt picked up the win on the mound for the Lady Hornets, going 4 1/3 innings granting only one hit to the Colonels.

Coming off a sweep by USC Upstate, Furman enters the matchup (4-7) and is led by sophomore outfielder Nikki Legg. Legg has a .406 batting average, including 13 hits and three RBIs.
