ASU Softball Swept in Lipscomb Tournament

Box Score 1 | Box Score 2 Box score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Alabama State softball team dropped two in the final day of Lipscomb Tournament in Nashville, Tenn. at Draper Diamond on the campus of Lipscomb University. Middle Tennessee defeated the Lady Hornets 3-0 and ASU fell to host team LU 11-0.
 
The Lady Hornets (2-17) began the game recording single from Sosefina Toilolo and a double from Meagan Dixon. Kim Ross and Brittnei Price also added singles in the contest.  
 
The Blue Raiders (6-8) drew first blood scoring three runs off back-to-back homeruns by Kayla Toney, which was a two-run homer and Kaycee Popham to make it a 3-0 ballgame.
 
Bailey Patt went 6 innings, striking out a career high four batters. Mercedes Frazier went 2-for-3 with two singles to lead the Lady Hornets in game one of today's double-header.
 
Box score In game two, ASU faced host team Lipscomb University. The Lady Hornets were handed its second loss on the day falling 11-0.
 
The Bison (13-6) scored seven runs in the bottom of the second off four hits, which included a grand slam and a two-run homer.
 
Lipscomb added four more runs in the bottom of the fourth, capping the score 11-0.
 
Alabama State will travel back to Nashville, Tenn. on Wednesday, March 14 to face Tennessee State in a double-header. The first game is slated for 1:00 p.m.
