MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State softball team is set to travel back to Nashville, Tenn. Wednesday, March 14 to face the Tigers of Tennessee State University in a double-header starting at 1 p.m.
“I have told the ladies over and over that this is a game of consistency, maturity, and reputation,” head coach Telma Hall said. “These past two weekends have echoed my statement, because after a great performance against Eastern Kentucky; we went to sleep or went to dreamland. Expecting people to just rollover for us. We have yet to approach a complete game with the same mentality and intensity.”
The Lady Hornets (2-18) lost its last match-up on March 5, 2010 at TSU 4-1. ASU looks for payback this go around with the Tigers. Alabama State has been hampered with injury over the course of the season, losing key players such as juniors
Whitley Golson and
Brehanna Rodrigues.
“The good thing about the loses we've had so far is that it's making the ladies understand and trust what my staff and I have been preaching about maturity and consistency,” said Hall. “They are also getting more focused with game planning and pushing each other harder. In Nashville, I'm expecting to see a new approach from each player; a new image created, and better composure for us to play and represent being “The One”. That's the only way we be able to end this losing streak.”
The Tigers (6-11) are on a four game losing streak, gifting loses to Garner-Webb and a weekend sweep to Murray State.
