ASU Softball Falls in Extra Innings to Western Carolina

Box Score Box Score WOODSTOCK, Ga. – The Lady Hornets Softball team took Western Carolina in extra innings to fall 7-6 in the final day of the Georgia Tech Buzz Classic Sunday, at the Twin Creek Softball Complex in Woodstock, Ga.
 
The Catamounts (9-9) led for most of the game 6-0 going into the top of the fifth inning.
 
The Lady Hornets would stay down for long as Breeya Wright singled up the middle to ignite a rally. A sacrifice bunt would move Wright into scoring position. Brittnei Price singled to shortstop to put runners on first and second. Ayesha Famble doubled down the left field line to score Wright and make the game 6-1. A single from Sosefina Toilolo would score Price and Famble from second and third.
 
With a couple of walks and singles from Mercedes Frazier and Meagan Dixon, Alabama State would rally in the seventh to tie the game at 6-all.
 
In the bottom of the eighth, Western Carolina would score off a single to win the game 7-6.
 
The Lady Hornets will next travel to Nashville to compete in the Lipscomb Tournament. The three day tournament features Eastern Michigan, Drake, Middle Tennessee State, and host team Lipscomb University.
 
ASU looks to face Eastern Michigan Friday, March 9 at 4:30 p.m. in the first game.
