ASU Softball Falls to Eastern Michigan

Box Score Box Score NASHVILLE, Tenn. – The Lady Hornets Softball team fell to Eastern Michigan 5-0 today at Draper Diamond on the campus of Lipscomb University in Nashville, Tenn.

Alabama State (2-15) couldn't get it going with the bats today. Ayesha Famble recorded a bunt single to lead things off for ASU in the top of the first, but she was left stranded on the base.

The Lady Eagles (6-11) led off the second inning with a single to left field by Amanda Herron. A single to right field by Nellie Coquillard would score Herron from third to give EMU a 1-0 lead. A pinch hit single with the bases loaded by Kaylee Tolliver scored two runs to add to an early lead of 4-0.

“We didn't hit the ball at all today,” head coach Telma Hall said. “We have to find a way to have some poise at the plate and be consistent. We need to hit, hit, and hit. You can't win ballgames, when you don't produce any offense.”

Famble and Brittnei Price had the only two hits recorded by Alabama State in the game.

ASU will face Drake University Saturday, March 9 at 10:00 a.m. in the first game day two of the tournament.
