Box Score 2 CULLOWHEE, N.C. – The Alabama State softball team fell 13-3 and 6-5 to the Catamounts of Western Carolina in non-conference play today.
Brehanna Rodrigues singled to left field to lead off the game for the Lady Hornets. A shot to the third baseman from
Meagan Dixon brought Rodrigues around to score the first run of the game for ASU.
The Catamounts (14-26) battled to score ten runs in the bottom of the second inning.
The Lady Hornets (11-26) recorded a run in the top half of the fourth to make the score 10-2.
Western Carolina added three more runs in the fourth to cap the scoring at 13-3.
In game two, the Catamounts jumped out to a 6-0 lead in the bottom of the first, but the Lady Hornets would bounce back to record two runs of their own in the fourth, making the score 6-2.
Brittnei Price led off the fifth inning with a single to right field. Rodrigues singled moving Price to second base. An
Ayesha Famble double and a throwing error by the third baseman scored Price and Rodrigues moving Famble to third base. A sacrifice fly scored Famble from third, making the final score 5-6.
Alabama State will take the weekend off before hosting the Samford Bulldogs on Wednesday, April 18 to start a eight game home-stand at the newly named Barbara Williams Softball Complex on the campus of ASU.
