Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State softball team fell to the Samford Bulldogs 7-3 today to open a nine game home-stand.
“We must hit to win,” head coach Telma Hall said. “We must understand that our fans are here to support us and cheer us on. Being away from home for a while did have minimum affect on us. The defense has to make the little plays count, so that we can stay motivated and keep our momentum throughout the game. The offense has to take pride in scoring runs, with runners in scoring position. Overall, to beat good ball clubs and give your fans something to cheer about, we must settle down and play our game; nothing more and nothing less.”
The Bulldogs (10-31) scored the first run of the game off a fielding error by the third baseman in the top of the first inning and added four more in the third.
The Lady Hornets (12-27) recorded two runs in the third off a throwing error by the second baseman and a single down the left field line from
Breeya Wright brought home
Kim Ross.
Stephanie Hernandez homered in the sixth for ASU, making the score 7-3 Samford.
