ASU Softball Falls to JSU 4-2

Box Score MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State softball team fell 4-2 to Jackson State Friday at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex in game one of its three-game series.
 
“We made too many mistakes today,” head coach Telma Hall said. “We have to be able to hit and produce runs to win ball games.”
The Lady Hornets (12-29 overall/ 7-4 SWAC) played a scoreless game going into the third inning. As a team, ASU produced four hits through seven innings of work.
 
The Lady Tigers (25-23 overall/ 8-3 SWAC) scored the first run of the game off a Wendi Reed hit to left field in the third  and added another in the fourth, making the score 2-0.
 
Alabama State rallied to collect two runs in the seventh inning off a wild pitch, scoring Brittnei Price and a throwing error by the catcher to bring around Brehanna Rodrigues, knotting the game up at 2-all.   
 
Jackson State recorded two more runs in the top of the seventh to take the 4-2 win.

ASU And JSU will face off again for games two and three Saturday at 1 p.m. in a double-header at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex on the campus of Alabama State.
