Box Score 2 MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Alabama State softball team was swept by Mississippi Valley State on Saturday falling 13-4 in game one and 6-4 in game two.
“Understanding the team's concept makes a difference when trying to win games,” said head coach Telma Hall. “It takes fight and hard work to win. We struggled with hitting the ball this weekend. We had the momentum, needed to keep the momentum and use it to our advantage, but we couldn't.”
The Lady Hornets (12-34 overall/7-9 SWAC) opened the first inning scoring three runs on three hits to take a 3-0 lead over the Devilettes.
MVSU (30-17 overall/16-0 SWAC) recorded two runs in the second, making the score 3-2 ASU.
Alabama State recorded another run in the bottom of the second, taking a 4-2 lead.
Miss. Valley State collected three runs in the third and in the fourth recorded five runs, to take a 10-4 lead. The Devilettes won game one 13-4.

Mississippi Valley State added another run in the second and three more in the fourth.
The Lady Hornets rallied to record three runs in the bottom half of the sixth, making the score 6-4 MVSU.
The Alabama State softball team will host the Jacksonville State Gamecocks at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex on Tuesday, May 1 beginning at 5 p.m.
