Hornets Lose in 14 Innings

JACKSONVILLE, Ala. – The Alabama State baseball team lost in 14 innings at Jacksonville State 5-4 Tuesday night at Rudy Abbott Field.
 
ASU (19-29) scored single runs in the first, second, third and fifth innings to take a 4-1 lead, the big blow a solo home run by Manny Rodriguez in the second inning.
 
Jacksonville State (19-23) chipped away at the deficit with single runs in the fourth-seventh innings to tie the score at 4-4.
 
Both teams missed opportunities to score in extra innings before the Gamecocks scored in the 14th on Kyle Bluestein's single down the left field line with two outs, scoring Sam Eberle.
 
The two teams will play again Wednesday at 6 p.m. at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
