Box Score Alabama State scored two unanswered goals to defeat Southern 2-0 Friday in a non-conference soccer match at the ASU Soccer Complex.
This win makes eight this season setting a new school record for most wins. The Lady Hornets also have won five straight games.
"We can take a lot of positives from tonight." Head Coach
Jodie Smith said. "I was really pleased with our play in the first period. Second half we got a little lazy and relaxed, but still was able to keep it together in the end."
The Lady Hornets (8-6) got off to an early start with a goal in the first minute by
Alexandria Cannon off an assist from
Kayla Edwards.
Ariela Lewis found her sister
Aaliyah Lewis in the 27th minute to make it a 2-0 match. The Lady Hornets outshot the Lady Jaguars 13-9.
Kylee Hathaway had three saves tonight in getting the shutout.
The Lady Hornets are heading into their final home match Sunday against Jackson State for Senior night which is set for 1 p.m.
