The Alabama State athletic program has added a women's cross country title this fall and the women's soccer program has won an East Division crown. Another East Division title is on the line tonight as ASU's volleyball team host Alabama A&M in Lockhart Gymnasium at 7 p.m.
ASU enters the game winners of 13 of its past 15 games and also holds a 5-0 conference record to go along with their 18-14 overall record. AAMU enters tonight's game with a 5-18 overall record and stands two games behind the Lady Hornets in the East with a 3-2 record.
If ASU were to win tonight they would own a three game lead over both Alabama A&M and Jackson State with only two conference games remaining, therefore giving them the East Division Crown.
"We have been pointing towards a SWAC Championship this season and winning the East Division is just another step in growth of this program, "Head Coach
Penny Lucas-White said. "We know how good A&M will be and we know how hard they will play. We will need to be at the top of our game."
ASU defeated AAMU in a hotly-contested game 3-0 back on Oct. 18. The final score was not indicative of how close the game was. ASU won three close games 25-19, 25-23 and 25-20.
"We are expecting the same type of game against A&M that we had at their place," Lucas-White said. "It should be a fun game to watch between two very good SWAC teams."
The game can be seen live on HornetVision at bamastatesports.com. Live stats can also be seen on the ASU athletic website.
