The Alabama State women's bowling team went 4-for-1 during the first day of the Southwestern Athletic round-up in Jackson, Miss. today.
“We had a really good day today,” said head coach Andy Chatmon of the first day of the round up. “We are now sitting in the number one spot of the SWAC solo so I am very pleased about that. Although we lost to Alabama A&M in the first match of the day coming back and winning the rest of the matches was really great. I am really proud of these young ladies.”
Alabama State fell in the first round to Alabama A&M to the scores of 954-930. After that the Lady Hornets went on a tear to win its next four matches defeating Grambling State ( 1006-715), Prairie View A&M (953-951), Texas Southern (1027-836) and Southern University (981-942).
“It's really nice being first place,” Chatmon said. “I just hope that we keep the momentum by doing what we did today without any losses that would make this weekend extremely great. Like I said before I am very pleased with the young ladies today and I hope that they continue doing a great job.”
