ASU Softball Falls to Samford in Mid-Week Contest

Box Score The Alabama State softball team fell 3-0 to Samford in a mid-week non-conference matchup at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex Tuesday evening.

“It was another close one where we made too many mistakes against a good team,” assistant coach Kevin Montgomery said. “We are still not able to string together enough hits, but overall our pitching kept us in the game. We just haven't been able to score any runs for them.”

The Lady Hornets (1-21 overall) threatened to score runs in the first and seventh innings, having runners in scoring position in both innings, but fell to do so.

The Bulldogs (9-10) picked up a run in the third and two in the fifth innings, taking a 3-0 lead over ASU.

Melissa Christmann pitched four complete innings, gifting only one runs on four hits and added a strikeout in the loss for the Lady Hornets.

Meagan Dixon, Stephanie Hernandez, Aleesa Yanez, and Makayla Webster each had a hit for ASU.

The Alabama State softball team will host UAB Tuesday, March 19 at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex. Game time is set for 4 p.m.
