The final game of the round-up for Alabama State didn't turn out as well as the Lady Hornets would have liked it to be in game two against the University of Arkansas Pine Bluff.

The Golden Lions of Arkansas Pine Bluff jumped out onto the boards first giving them a three run lead in the bottom of the second inning.  The Lady Hornets were able to get on the board in the third inning on Rodrigues single and then stealing back-to-back bases before scoring on a wild pitch.

The fourth and fifth innings were scoreless for both teams.  The Lady Hornets were able to score a final run in the sixth inning before UAPB closed the game out defeating Alabama State 3-2.

“Another day that we didn't play to our potential,” said head coach Telma O'Neal Hall.  “We played o.k. but I think that we had an opportunity to win both games.  We allowed Grambling to stay in the game making small mistakes that could have cost us in the end, but we were able to come back and win the game.  The results weren't what we wanted them to be, but we just didn't take advantage when we should have leaving five players strained on base.  I am happy that we did get a couple of wins out of the weekend.  Hopefully this will be the turning point that we are looking for.”

The Lady Hornets will return to the diamond on March 28 -29 in a three game series as they face eastern division rivals Mississippi Valley State.  The first pitch on the 28th is set for 6 p.m.
