The Alabama State University tennis teams will host the Southwestern Athletic Conference Roundup at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center on Friday, March 29 through Saturday, March 30. This will be the first time in the program's history to host the SWAC Roundup.
 
“I'm elated that we are hosting this roundup, because it gives us a chance to showcase our facilities on campus and around the City of Montgomery,” Head Coach Anuk Christiansz said. “We will all benefit from it and hopefully, we will be able to host this roundup for years to come.”
 
The two-day roundup will be held at three different locations on Friday (Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center; Lagoon Park Tennis Center; and O'Conner Tennis Center) and Saturday at the Olean Black Underwood Tennis Center and Lagoon Park Tennis Center.
 
The Hornets are sitting in third place in the conference with a 2-1 record after knocking off conference foe Alabama A&M and Arkansas Pine-Bluff, and being defeated by Prairie View A&M. The guys are led by sophomore Bobby Brand, who holds a 5-9 singles and doubles record with multiple teammates.
 
The Lady Hornets will be looking to improve its 0-1 record during the roundup. Freshman Melissa Telfer has a 6-9 record in singles and a doubles record of 4-9 with partner freshman Pauline Denis.
 
“The women are progressing but still have a long ways to go,” said Christiansz. “They have to win some matches on Saturday to make it to the SWAC Tournament, and the guys need to win out to go in as high as the second seed, so we know what we have to do. We just need now to execute.”
