“We are going into this weekend hoping that we can continue to build on the momentum that we started with against Auburn,” assistant coach Kevin Montgomery said. “We are starting to develop defensively and offensively. I was excited with the way the girls hit the ball last night, so we want to continue that throughout the weekend and beyond.”
ASU is coming off a hard fought 9-6 loss to Auburn on Wednesday evening at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex. The ladies pulled the team's batting average up from a .214 to a .218.
Brehanna Rodrigues went 2-for-4 with three runs scored, while
Stephanie Hernandez went 2-for-4, including a RBI and a run scored to lead the Lady Hornets in the effort.
“Brehanna and Stephanie did well for us as well as others who got involved,” said Montgomery. I was just pleased to see everyone contribute. As for Nashville, we hope to be able to come out and play a solid seven innings one game at a time.”
Other teams participating in the tournament includes: Mississippi Valley State, University of Indiana, Nebraska at Omaha, and St. Louis.
