Softball Welcomes Alcorn to Montgomery; Senior Day Set for Saturday

The Alabama State softball team (6-28, 5-4 Southwestern Athletic Conference) returns home to Montgomery for a three-game series beginning Friday against Alcorn State.
 
Friday's game against Alcorn State (7-30, 0-7 SWAC) will begin at 6 p.m. (CT), while Saturday's doubleheader is scheduled to start at noon (CT). Live stats will be available and can be viewed online at: (http://www.sidearmstats.com/alasu/softball/scoreboard.aspx ).
 
 The Lady Hornets enter Friday's contest coming off a mid-week 4-3 loss to Jacksonville State on Tuesday and a weekend series sweep of in-state rival and conference foe Alabama A&M. ASU is 3-1 in the past four games and is led by freshman Rachel Mills, who holds a .600 batting average over the stretch, which includes three hits and two runs scored. She also has a stolen base on her resume.
 
Freshmen Makayla Webster and Aleesa Yanez have also stepped up in the past four games. Webster holds a .556 batting average with five hits, four RBI, three runs, and a double; while Yanez has a .500 batting average with six hits, three RBI, and a double during the stretch.  
 
In conference play, junior Meagan Dixon leads the Lady Hornets with a .500 batting average over nine games, including 15 hits, seven runs scored, six RBI, two doubles, two home runs, and a triple. She also has three stolen bases.  Senior Bailey Patt has a 0.00 ERA, with three wins in four appearances and 10 innings pitched. Patt has given up only seven hits and two walks. She also has five strikeouts to her resume.
                                                                                                             
As a team for the season, ASU currently holds a .241 batting average, with 198 hits, 84 runs scored, 64 RBI, 20 doubles, six home runs, and four triples.
 
The Lady Hornets have 53 stolen bases on the season as a team and is led by senior Brehanna Rodrigues with 25 (2nd in Conference).
