Box Score JACKSON, Miss. – The Alabama State softball team fell 4-2 to Jackson State during game one of the three game series at the JSU Softball Field.
“Today, we were pretty good on defense I thought,” Head Coach Telma Hall said. “We were hitting the ball, but we couldn't find the gaps. We got to make sure we can come back tomorrow focused, get consistent at the plate and manufacture some runs. At the end of the day, we still have to hit more and produce runs to stay in the ballgame.”
The Lady Hornets (11-30 overall, 8-5 SWAC)jumped out to an early 2-0 advantage in the third, receiving singles from freshmen
Makayla Webster and
Aleesa Yanez to score
Brehanna Rodrigues and
Meagan Dixon.
The Lady Tigers (24-27, 11-4) chipped away at the lead, scoring a run in the fourth and adding three in the fifth to take a 4-2 lead and the ballgame.
Bailey Patt took the loss, going six innings giving up four runs on eight hits and three walks; while striking out two.
Alabama State returns to action Saturday, April 27 for games two and three of the weekend conference series against the Tigers of Jackson State at the JSU Softball Field. First pitch is slated for 11 a.m.
