“Again, I am very proud of the ladies for this weekend's series sweep of Alabama A&M,” Head Coach Telma Hall said. “We're definitely looking to use the momentum from the weekend to continue collecting wins. We have to continue working hard and execute when its time.”

“We expect to show a better representation than we did last year. Last year, was an emotional tragedy for our team, but tomorrow we are expecting to play “Hornet Ball” tomorrow in Jacksonville to take the stronger force into this weekend.”

The Lady Hornets are coming off a dramatic sweep of in-state rival and conference foe Alabama A&M over the weekend. Alabama State was led by the bat of freshman Makayla Webster, who recorded a .714 batting average, which included five hits, four RBI, three runs scored, and a double. She also added a stolen base to her resume.

“I challenged the freshman this past weekend for the rest of the season. They stepped up and met the challenge. We expect for them to continue stepping up and move forward from this weekend's production.”

As a team, ASU now holds a .239 batting average, with 191 hits, 81 runs scored, 63 RBI, 20 doubles, six home runs, and four triples.

The Lady Hornets have 52 stolen bases on the season as a team and is led by senior Brehanna Rodrigues with 25 (tied 17th nationally-2nd in Conference).
