JACKSONVILLE , Ala. –  The Alabama State baseball team lost at Jacksonville State 9-2 Wednesday night at Rudy Abbott Field.
 
The Hornets (27-23) fell behind 3-0 after the opening inning. After scoring one run in the third, Jacksonville State (26-19) score single runs in the fourth and fifth innings and two in the seventh inning.
 
Branden Castro led off the Alabama State third with a double down the right field line, Emmanuel Marrero's sacrifice bunt and a throwing error on the play scored Castro.
 
Alabama State added another run in the eighth. Marcus Swint reached on a throwing error and advanced to second base. After a sacrifice bunt by Leo Rojas, Richard Amion singled to right center field to score Swint.
 
The Hornets conclude the regular season with a three-game SWAC series at Mississippi Valley State. Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single game begins at 1 p.m.
