FORT WORTH, Texas. - The Alabama State baseball team lost 2-1 Friday night in the SWAC Tournament to Prairie View at LaGrave Field.
It was the first loss in the tournament for the Hornets (32-24), who will face the Panthers (26-26) again Saturday at 3 p.m. for a berth in Sunday's 2 p.m. championship game vs. Jackson State. The loser of Saturday's game is eliminated.
Alabama State scored in the first inning.
Leo Rojas doubled with one out, and advanced to third on a groundout. Rojas then stole home to put the Hornets on the board.
Prairie View scored both its runs in the eighth, as the Panthers put together back-to-back leadoff hits to score a run, and took advantage of a throwing error to score the eventual winning run.
Joseph Camacho went seven outstanding innings in getting the no decision, allowing only two hits, one walk and a career-high eight strikeouts. Rojas,
Waldyvan Estrada and
Dexter Price had the only hits for the Hornets.
