Box Score DECATUR, Ala. – The Alabama State softball team defeated the University of Arkansas Pine-Bluff Lady Lions 2-0 in the opening round of the 2013 Southwestern Athletic Conference Tournament Wednesday, May 8 at the Wilson Morgan Park.

Tacresha Favors stepping in to play outfield. We won today, enjoying the momentary excitement and using the momentum to move forward because tomorrow is a new day and a new start.”
With one out in the third,
Tamara Williams singled to left field to get the Lady Hornets going at the plate. After a stolen base by Williams and a
Meagan Dixon walk,
Makayla Webster singled scoring Williams from second and advancing Dixon to third base.
Kim Ross grounded out to the shortstop bringing Dixon around to score; while moving Webster to second.
Alabama State threatened to score in the fourth and seventh innings, leaving the bases loaded in the fourth and two on second and third in the seventh.
Bailey Patt picked up the win throwing a complete game giving up only three hits; while walking two and striking out four.
Hernandez finished with three singles to lead ASU at the plate.
The Lady Hornets advance to the quarterfinal round and will face the winner of the Jackson State versus Grambling contest at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, May 9. For all the action, follow the game via live stats at:
