The Alabama State bowling team concluded a strong weekend at the Track Kat Klash with a 10-7 record defeating three ranked teams, #2 Nebraska, #6 Stephen F. Austin, and #13 Long Island University.Â

"I am happy going 10-7 over the weekend," said head coach
Andrew Chatmon. "We were happy to go up against some of the top teams in the country and winning some of  those games which was an accomplishment for us. Volunteer coach Rick Wilson and I saw some opportunities for improvement, which we will have to now put in some serious work for the upcoming days."

The Lady Hornets started the day with a win over SFA (755-749) before dropping a match against 8
th ranked Vanderbilt (823-709). Alabama State was able to rebound strong defeating Tulane (799-661), while also defeating once ranked #18 Monmouth (850-680), than closing out the day with a loss to host team and 7
th ranked Sam Houston (878-655).

Saturday had a bit of a different twist for the Lady Hornets with a slow start dropping its first two games to ranked #1 Arkansas State (1049-959) and ranked #9 Wisconsin-Whitewater (1103-970). The Lady Hornets were able to bounce back by defeating in-state team UAB (928-900), Long Island (922-846), SWAC foe Grambling State (889-630) and a come from behind win over two time SWAC Champions Prairie View A&M (922-914) finishing the day 4-2.

Alabama State will return to the lanes for the SWAC East Round-Up Friday 21 in Jackson, Miss.
