LADY HORNETS TRAVEL TO ARKANSAS

MONTGOMERY- The Lady Hornets will travel to Conway, Arkansas to compete in the Central Arkansas Invitational this weekend. They will face Western Illinois, South Dakota State, Drexel, and host team Central Arkansas.

After starting off the season slow dropping all five games in the Tangi Tourism Lion Classic and losing two games in the Hornet Invitational they defeated Gardner Webb to pick up its first win. Down one run in the bottom of the fifth with one out and a runner on second, Meagan Dixon blasted a two-run home run to give the Lady Hornets the go ahead advantage.

This was Dixon's second homer of the weekend, as she hit a solo shot Saturday against North Carolina A&T. The Lady Hornets would cross the plate one more time in the fifth, as Jasmine James, who was called to pinch run for Kendall Core, came around to score on a passed ball to give the Lady Hornets the edge 3-1. Gardner- Webb would answer back with a run in the top of the seventh, but the Hornets were able to hold off the Bulldogs 3-2.

The Lady Hornets will face Drexel in its first game of the invitational, first pitch is set for 11:15 a.m. Friday.
