TALLAHASSEE, Fla. – The Alabama State baseball team lost 2-1 to Florida A&M Thursday afternoon at Moore-Kittles Field.

Florida A&M (17-21) scored both runs in the third inning on two hits, taking advantage of one Alabama State error for the final margin.

Michael Estevez (3-4) and Branden Caples combined to limit the Rattlers to only four hits over the final five innings, stranding five runners on base. However, the Hornets did not score again either, stranding the bases loaded in the sixth, with only two batters reaching base in the final three innings.

Alabama State returns to action at home this weekend against Alabama A&M in a three-game Southwestern Athletic Conference Eastern Division showdown of the top two teams in the division. Saturday's doubleheader and Sunday's single game begin at 1 p.m. at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
