Lady Hornets Softball Focuses On Jacksonville State

The Alabama State University softball team will host Jacksonville State tomorrow in a mid-week match up at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex, as the Lady Hornets close out their regular season.

This will be the first meeting between the Lady Hornets and Gamecocks this season, with Jacksonville State holding the overall series at 8-0.

The Lady Hornets (16-22, 11-6) are looking to use the mid-week game against Jacksonville State (36-12, 20-7) as another tune-up game before going to the 2014 SWAC Tournament in Decatur, Ala., May 7-10.

"We are excited about this level of competition to help with our preparation for the upcoming tournament," Assistant Head Coach Alyssa Smoke said.  "The girls played excellent last week against Auburn and have been focused at practice. We are looking to close our regular season out with a bang."

The Lady Hornets will go into the 2014 SWAC Tournament as the number two seed in the Eastern Division.

Tomorrow's contest, which was originally scheduled for 6 p.m., has been moved up to 4 p.m. due to pending adverse weather conditions. For live stats, updates and everything ASU softball log on to www.bamastatesports.com
