Box Score The Alabama State baseball team lost its final home game to South Alabama in a wild 12-11 contest Wednesday at the Wheeler-Watkins Baseball Complex.
The Hornets (33-17) trailed 5-0 after 1 ½ innings before rallying with two runs in the second, two runs in the third, and five runs in the fourth to take a 9-5 lead. South Alabama (20-24) regained the lead with a seven-run eighth inning, before Alabama State rallied with two runs in the home half of the inning but could not tie or regain the lead.
The teams combined for 23 runs and 27 hits, with 26 walks issued and 13 pitchers used.
All but one Hornet starter had a hit, run, or RBI.
Einar Muniz went 3-for-5 with one run scored and one RBI.
Dexter Price, playing his final home game, went 2-for-5 with three RBI, including a two-run single.
Waldyvan Estrada scored three times and drove in two runs on a two-run triple.
Emmanuel Marrero (two runs scored) and
Branden Castro (one run scored) each had two hits for Alabama State.
The Hornets will end the regular season in a three-game weekend series at 4
th-ranked Miami. Friday and Saturday's games begin at 6 p.m., and Sunday's game at noon (all times central), with live internet radio on bamastatesports.com.
