Box Score The Alabama State University softball team closed out its regular season against Jacksonville State in a mid-week match up at the Barbara Williams Softball Complex.
The Lady Hornets went scoreless through the last three innings as Gamecocks managed 22 runs on 15 hits for a 22-2 final.
ASU scored its first run of the ballgame when
Tamara Williams, who doubled to left field, came to score on
Meagan Dixon's single to the shortstop.
The Lady Hornets would score again in the second inning as
Brittney Wilson drove in
Jazzmin Romero, who led the inning off with a double to the left-center gap.
The Lady Hornets tallied five hits but committed six errors on the day.
"Consistency is something we have to continue to work on," Assistant Head Coach Alyssa Smoke said. "We have to show up for every game and play our best no matter the opponent. We will move on past today and focus our attention to the upcoming tournament."
This was the last taste of competition for ASU before heading to Decatur, Ala., for the 2014 SWAC Softball Tournament May 7-11. The Lady Hornets will go into the tournament as the number two seed in the Eastern Division.
