Montgomery – Both of the men's and women's golf teams at Alabama State will be in fall action this week, but will be at different locations. The men's team will travel to Tennessee to participate in the Skyhawk Fall Classic which will be played at Paris Landing State Park Monday and Tuesday Oct. 5-6.
The Lady Hornets will travel to Texas where they will be one of 14 teams that will play in the Bearkat Women's Invitational at Raven Nest Golf Course in Huntsville. Sam Houston State will host the invitational which will also be played Monday and Tuesday.
The Skyhawk Fall Classic will host 14 teams and 72 players. Tennessee-Martin is a member of the Ohio Valley Conference (OVC) and will be joined by fellow OVC members Austin Peay, Morehead State, Murray State and Tennessee State. Joining the Hornets from the SWAC will be Alabma A&M and Jackson State.
Other teams in the invite will be Bethel College, John A. Logan, Mississippi College, Rend Lake and Union University.
The two-day affair will have the men playing 36 holes on Monday, with Tuesday's final round consisting of 18 holes.
The women will join 13 other teams in Huntsville, Texas for their second tournament of the fall. The Southland Conference will make up most of the field as Louisiana-Monroe, Lamar, Houston Baptist, Stephen F. Austin, Texas A&M Corpus Christi and McNeese State join Sam Houston State.
Other teams in the field are Southern Mississippi, Central Arkansas, Tyler Junior College, McLennan, Texas Wesleyan, Western Texas and SWAC-foe Texas Southern.
Like the men's tournament, the women will play 36 holes on Monday's opening day of action and finish the tournament with an 18-hole round on Tuesday. Play on both days will begin at 8 a.m.
