Now, it's time to get serious as the bigger games come their way.Â

Alabama State (6-21) will start its Southwestern Athletic Conference schedule beginning Monday in the first of four conference games in Conroe, Texas, as part of the East meets West SWAC Round-up where all 10 teams will be playing against one other in a cross divisional format.

ASU will now play 16 of their final 20 regular season games against SWAC competition to determine where they will be seeded come SWAC Tournament time. Â

Two ASU players who will look to continue their hot hitting as junior
Jenna Mae Thorne is coming off a series with Mercer in which she batted 4-for-6 with a walk, double, triple, run and RBI in two games last Tuesday.Â

Alexis Johnson extended her reached base streak to 20 straight when she hit a combined 3-for-6 in the series including her fifth home run of the season.Â

The Lady Hornets will start on Monday against Prairie View A&M (1-9) at 10 a.m. and will follow with a game versus Arkansas-Pine Bluff (1-18) at 3 p.m.Â
The Lady Panthers sport the worst team batting average in the conference (.170) and hold the worst team ERA (14.92).Â

The Golden Lions rank ninth in team batting average (.202) and ninth in team ERA (.981).Â
Tuesday will feature another twin-bill for the Lady Hornets.Â
ASU will open the day against Southern (3-7)Â at 10 a.m. and then will take on Texas Southern (3-10)Â at approximately 12:30 p.m. to close out play.Â
The Lady Jaguars are hitting .237 as a team to rank fourth in the SWAC and hold a 5.90 team ERA for second-best in the conference. Â

Texas Southern ranks third in the SWAC with a team batting average of .272 and ranks third in pitching with a 6.11 ERA.
