The Alabama State baseball team returns to Southwestern Athletic Conference play this weekend at Mississippi Valley State.
 
Saturday's doubleheader has been rescheduled for noon, while Sunday's single game will be at 1 p.m., with a live radio broadcast and live stats on bamastatesports.com.
 
Alabama State (20-11 overall, 9-3 SWAC) has won five games in row, all in non-conference play. The Hornets have posted wins at Troy, along with home wins in a three-game series sweep of Savannah State, and a victory this past Tuesday over Jacksonville State during the streak.
 
In playing its best ball of the season, Alabama State has won nine of its last 12 games. Scoring a minimum of six runs per game, the Hornets are batting .337 during this 12-game stretch. It has helped raised ASU's team batting average to .320, ranking behind only Arizona (.327) and LSU (.326).
 
The Hornets have also gone deep with consistency during the recent stretch, hitting at least one homer in nine straight games, and have hit 11 in the past 12 games.
 
Four Hornets have active reached base streaks of 13+ games. SS P.J. Biocic has reached based in 27 consecutive games, hitting .424 with one home run and 26 RBI and a .576 on-base percentage. OF Waldyvan Estrada has been on base in 17 straight games, hitting .350 with two home runs, 20 RBI and a .481 OBP. C Chris Biocic has been on base in the last 16 games he has played, hitting .439 with one home run, 18 RBI and a .463 OBP. OF Cesar Rivera is on a 13-game hitting streak, his second such streak this season, and has been on base in 26 of the past 27 games. On this current hitting streak, Rivera is batting .439 with two home runs, 13 RBI, and a .522 OBP.
 
This is the second series meeting between the Hornets and Delta Devils (6-21-1, 3-11 SWAC). Alabama State won two of three at home last month, as the series moved to Montgomery due to frozen field conditions at Mississippi Valley State.
