NEW ORLEANS, La.. – The Southwestern Athletic Conference (SWAC) officially released the 2015 SWAC Baseball Tournament brackets on Monday.
 
Alabama State (30-17 overall, 18-6 SWAC) earned the top seed in the East Division and will play Wednesday 3 p.m. at Wesley Barrow Stadium.
 
The Hornets, who won the SWAC's East Division regular season crown for the second consecutive season, will open against West No. 4 seed Prairie View A&M (15-34 overall, 5-19 SWAC).

The Panthers moved up a spot in the SWAC Tournament bracket due to Arkansas-Pine Bluff's ineligibility for postseason play. 
 
It will be the third game of the day scheduled on the opening rounds of play in the tournament. 
 
ASU and Prairie View did not meet during the 2015 season. 
 
It's been nearly two years since they last meet during the 2013 SWAC Tournament with the Panthers taking two of three from the Hornets. 
 
ASU defeated PVAMU 13-0 in seven innings before losing 2-1 and 8-3 in the semifinal round.
 
In each tournament appearance over the past three years, Alabama State has advanced further each year, and look to take the final championship step this season.

The day starts at 9 a.m. when West No. 2 Southern (17-22 overall, 13-8 SWAC) takes on East No. 3 Jackson State (30-22 overall, 15-9 SWAC). 
 
The Hornets are matched up in bracket A with those teams. 
 
ASU will play one of those teams Thursday depending upon the results of the opening round game. 
 
The tournament is in its 62^nd year and runs Wednesday through Sunday at the MLB Urban Youth Academy's Wesley Barrow Stadium in New Orleans, La.
 
In bracket B, East No. 2 Alabama A&M (25-26 overall, 16-8 SWAC) will play West No. 3 Grambling State (9-34 overall, 7-18 SWAC) at noon. 
 
West No. 1 Texas Southern (26-16 overall, 16-7  SWAC) takes on East No. 4 Alcorn State (15-38 overall, 8-17 SWAC) in the last game of the day at 6 p.m.
