FLAGSTAFF, AZ  – The Alabama State women's soccer team will do something it has never done before in the 12-year history of the program—until this weekend—by playing a pair of matches in the Southwestern United States.
The Lady Hornets will have to make sure that their tray tables are in their full, upright and locked-in positions because the team will board an early morning flight out of the Atlanta airport on Thursday morning and arrive in Phoenix by about 1 p.m. local time.Â
Alabama State (0-2-1) will begin play Friday at Northern Arizona of the Big Sky Conference at 10 p.m. / 8 p.m. mountain time on Max Spilsbury Field.Â

Ariela Lewis continued her encouraging start to her 2015 season by scoring twice in a 3-3 draw at USC-Upstate this past Friday on the road in Spartanburg, SC.Â
Ar. Lewis is now ranked tied for second in the SWAC for points with seven and is tied for 32
nd in the nation in points per match (2.33).Â
Northern Arizona has been close in defeat.Â
The Lumberjacks (0-3) are coming off a 1-0 overtime loss to UNLV this past Sunday.Â
It lost two of its matches in such fashion, having lost its season opener at Grand Canyon 3-2 in overtime as well.
NAU received the goals by Haley Wingender and Chantal Deroos.Â
The team was also shut out 4-0 against Arizona on Aug. 28.Â
In goal, Natalie Gilbertson has made 14 saves to go along with a 2.50 goals against average.Â
